Roy Zenner
From music icons to local beach scenes, Roy Zenner has a way to connect us through his paintings. His torn paper, mixed media paintings are images we see and we know and scenes we kind of take for granted! He finds the shapes and shadows and gives us a freshness, a new way to see.
FILM & ART
Meet the director Hal Jacobs, and artist Joni Mabe!
DOCUMENTARY Sat., Nov. 21, 7-9pm Everything Elvis:
The ART (and Obsessions!) oF JONI MABE
$10. entry fee at the door.
A lively overview of the inspirations and obsessions of Athens-based artist Joni Mabe, whose collection of EVERYTHING ELVIS spans 40 years.
For over 40 years, artist Joni Mabe has channeled her Georgia roots into work that explores pop culture, Southern ephemera, and Elvis. Her obsession with The King started with his death in 1977 while she was an art student at UGA, leading to a collection of over 30,000 items related to Elvis. In 2024, she was a finalist for the Hudgens Art Prize with her sculptural installations using found and fabulous objects.
The 57-minute film details her journey from thumbing her nose at art faculty to appearances on the Howard Stern Show to becoming a darling of 1990s MTV before returning home to save her great-grandparents boarding house and turn it into a hotspot of the unofficial Southern Oddities Circuit.
Director Hal Jacobs and producer Joe Boris have collaborated on five full-length documentaries that profile Georgia leaders in the arts, environment, education and social justice. Their films are screened at festivals, libraries and broadcast on Georgia public television. There is a $10 fee at the door. Refreshments provided. The artist, Joan Mabe and the directors Hal Jacobs and Joe Boris will chat after the film.

Mark White & Kim Griffin White welcome you to the Gallery of Art 850 as we carry on the cultural mission of Mary Ola Reynolds Miller and her family.
history
Mary Ola Miller was the cultural 'go to' person for decades in Panama City, FL. Mary Ola Miller began the Gallery of Art in 1967 and ran it until her passing in 2011. She connected our Bay County community to culture, art and music all her life. Her legacy continued with her son Maxwell Miller who worked to cultivate the same values as his mother. Her granddaughter Starlett Miller Massey owns the Gallery of Art structure and is culturally active and supports our Bay County community.
Kim Griffin White & Mark White became owners of the Gallery of Art April 1, 2023. Mark, a retired chiropractor and Kim a somewhat retired graphic designer, are both artists and have lived in this city for around 30 years. They continue to engage and welcome all things creative and cultural in the artistic coastal community of Panama City, Florida on beautiful St. Andrews Bay in the Gulf of Mexico.
